Outstanding A level success for students at Ark Academy

This is out third year of ‘A’ level results and second year of BTEC (level 3) results. The exam outcomes have improved each year, with a significant increase in top grades with 30% A*/A grades.

We are incredibly proud of the results achieved that has enabled our students to attain excellent university places. Some of the highlights are shared below.

Attainment

  • Of the 106 students in year 13, 75% achieved 3+A*-C grades and 87% A*-C grades overall.
  • The average ‘A’ level grade is B overall.
  • 93% of our year 13 cohort passed 3 or more A levels.

Progress

  • Our ALPs score - a measure of student attainment against the top quarter of students nationally is extremely positive at grade 2. In effect, this means our results are in the top 10% for progress across the country.

Subject Success

  • Our subject results have plenty of highlights. Biology and chemistry did extremely well with 89% and 82% respectively achieving A*-C grades and 68% and 59% A*/B grades. Psychology and sociology also attained many top grades with 67% and 83% respectively gaining A*/B grades. Really excellent results in history with 100% A*-C grades and 79% A*-B. Maths, economics and English also really put in strong performances.
  • We are particularly proud of our second cohort of Applied Business BTEC, 93% attained D*DD (equivalent to 3 As at ‘A’ level) our first cohort of Applied Science were also strong.

University life begins

We are incredibly proud that these strong outcomes have enabled so many students to go to a top university. Three students gained places at Imperial College London, Hani Dahir achieved A*, A*, A in maths, further maths and chemistry and will study maths, Sara Arybou achieved A*, A*, A in biology, maths and chemistry and will study biochemistry, Klio Balliu achieved A*, A, B and will study electrical engineering. We are also very proud of our two medics Suchita Rana (A*,A,A) and Heba Mushatta (A*,A,A) our head girl, will study medicine at UCL and St Geogre’s. Veesha Gajar (A,A,B) is very excited to be off to Nottingham University to study Politics as is Yash Shah (A, A, B) who will study French at Queen Mary College. Our BTEC Applied Awards in Science and Business also enabled many top performers to gain places at top universities. Sora Adnan (D*DD) and Aaron Steward (D*D*D) will go to UCL and Royal Holloway respectively to study business degrees. Maher Abdulrahman (D*D*D in applied science) will study pharmacology at the University of East Anglia, whilst Sebastian Nocan (D*,D*,D) will attend Royal Holloway and study psychology.

Additionally two high performing ‘A’ level students chose to go the degree apprenticeship route and we are very proud that Joel Agyekum and Hasiba Husseini gained very prestigious degree places at TFL and Ofcom.

Overall 102 students accepted university offers and we wish them all the best in their chosen courses.
