British Biology Olympiad

Five Y12s competed this year in the British Biology Olympiad, a national competition aimed at future medics, drug researchers and environmental scientists.

The questions were fiendish. Almost 10,000 competitors fought for places, many of them Y13s with a year’s advantage.

But success favours the brave. Future PhDs Fadak Jaf and Karima Ahmad put in strong performances. Hon Prof Beheshta Harghandiwal won a commendation. Overachiever Alex Bazavan netted a high commendation. And Nobel-in-waiting Sucdi Nuur bagged a bronze.

Natural selection folks, and well deserved.
