Abstracts galore and much more as GCSE Art & DT students showcase their talent
It's that time of year again, when we are celebrating the vast amount of talent that we have here at Ark. Whether it is sporting achievements, commendations, Music or Drama, we happily reward everyone who has persisted and achieved their goals.
This is especially true of our Art and DT students, who proved at their GCSE exhibition that perseverance is key to improvement, with an impressive body of work.
DT technician Miss Whittaker said: 'It's so nice to see the students' work in an exhibition setting. Daniel Hunt was a stand out for me - he worked independently and ticked every box of criteria.

'I felt he worked really thoroughly on all aspects of his work. His final piece was a water feature in the shape of a well, which turned out brilliantly and his folder work was incredible.'
Head of Art Mr Paton said: 'There was an amazing celebration of the achievements of our Year 11 students.

I felt that Mahyar Dadgar has improved greatly and his sketchbook and final pieces were the pinnacle of his two years of hard work. He produced one piece, an abstract composition, informed by his visit to the Natural History museum. This piece combined a skull and an owl as an expression of natural form.'
For our part, the evening was a great success. It was very heartening to see the how the students' projects and their ideas had developed over the length of their course and especially how much their artistic skill and imagination had improved in that time.
Thank you to all those who came to support our Year 11s.
Congratulations to all who contributed work and we are excited to view your results in August!
