Year 9 Rugby girls having a phenomenal season

Our Year 9 girls Rugby team have been experiencing a fantastic season and thoroughly enjoying the game. Read on for updates on the latest matches from coach Mr Edmondson...

Facing off against Uxbridge High School away from home was a challenge and a really spirited game, with a lot of aggression channelled in to some big tackles. The real highlight was seeing our girls offload the ball just as they were tackled, it was an excellent display of technical rugby.

At half time, the scores were tied 10-10 and Ark had battled up the hill, Amy and Inva scoring our tries.

In the second period, a phenomenal hat-trick from Cerys, showing great agility to sidestep and jink her way through some tough-tackling opposition saw Ark take the lead.

Amy then scored her second, when she burst on to an excellent offload in another tackle situation. The icing on the cake was Bathseba’s debut try, Ark winning 35-20.

One week later we hosted Burlington Danes in a hard fought game of rugby. The girls were knocked off their stride a little by the ferocity of the BDA tackling, and fell behind 0-10.

They soon displayed their togetherness, though, and battled back to a 10-15 deficit at half time, thanks to tries from Amy and Cerys.

In the second period, a Woman of the Match performance from Aurianna saw her score two excellent tries to put Ark in front, building up a real head of steam and powering her way through BDA arms.

Faith also scored a battering ram try, whilst Amy applied a little more subtly to get her second. However, with Inva over the opposition try line, an unfortunate knock-on saw the game finish a draw 35-35.
