Where's Wally Literacy Trust Fun Run

It was a glorious sunny Sunday, perfect for a 5km jog round Victoria Park and Ark Academy staff did it in style! Mrs Smith, Miss Bates, Miss Hodges and Miss Mintern donned their trainers, leggings, and most importantly the red and white striped ‘Where’s Wally?’ outfits to complete the National Literacy Trust fun run.

After an enthusiastic warm up we set off, enjoying the lovely scenery and the stewards’ words of encouragement – one was even playing ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams on her phone to keep our spirits up as we proceeded  around the course!

We completed the route in a very respectable 45 minutes and a special mention must go to Miss Hodges who did the 10km in only 50! We were very proud of ourselves, and (our brilliant Where’s Wally medals!), as you will see in the pictures.

Miss Hodges said: 'It was fantastic to be involved in an event with other staff, and perfect weather for a Sunday morning run! And best of all….I now have a Where's Wally outfit! I think we should do more of these.'

Mrs Smith agreed: 'It was a beautiful day, great fun and all for a very worthy cause.'

Between us we have raised over £300 so far and counting, if you wish to make a donation please go to www.justgiving.com/delia-smith

It has even inspired us to organise our own fun run in the Summer Term to raise money for our 6th Form Building so watch this space for more information.
