Our young athletes set new record at World Marathon Challenge 2015

Our athletes went through blood, sweat and tears during their World Marathon Challenge at Lee Valley. They not only showed sheer determination to finish 8th in the world but they also went on to break the marathon world record!

World Record Time: 2hr 2min 57 seconds

Ark Academy Time: 2hr 2min 16 seconds

They all made Ark Academy extremely proud working together as a team to complete the 26 mile run with Paula Radcliffe’s parents there to witness our efforts, as we came 3rd on the day.

Although every pupil gave 100%, special mention goes to Henry Opoku who volunteered to run an extra two laps on behalf of one of our injured girls.

Also, Mya Ashbourne and Tykaela De-Gale were great sportswomen alongside the following Year 9 sportsmen who set the standard for the day and were great role models to the younger years; Devonte, Ali and Sekani.

Congratulations to all involved and many thanks as ever to Team PE for making it happen!
