Ex-Students - Advice on taking a Gap Year and reapplying
Due to A levels changing to becoming linear, and the fact that students retaking will have to take ALL the exams again (not just the ones they choose), we will no longer be able to be your UCAS referee if you are retaking. Instead you will need to ask your new college or private tutor to do it for you - they will know your latest performance whereas we will only know you from a year ago. We can send the referee some information for subjects that you are NOT retaking though.
If you decide to take a Gap year and wish to reapply with Ark Academy as your UCAS referee (but are not retaking) you must notify Emily Iliffe, Director of Sixth Form by email: e.iliffe@arkacdemy.org
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER:
You MUST register for UCAS as an INDIVIDUAL APPLICANT and complete ALL the sections of the UCAS form (except ‘pay and send’)
Personal Statements must be written in context of taking a Gap Year – explaining what you are doing and any future plans in order that we can support your application fully in our reference
ALL AS grades and A level grades must be added to the Education Section
For applications to MEDICINE or DENTISTRY – the UKCAT Test MUST be completed and the score added to the Education Section. If applying to UKCAT universities, a score of 680 + will help your application considerably
FOR ALL COURSES – MAKE SURE YOUR GRADES OR PREDICTED GRADES MEET THE UNIVERSITY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
