Ark Academy students celebrate their A Level and BTEC successes as they secure wonderful destinations
Tuesday 10 August 2021
After a challenging two years due to the pandemic, we are very proud of our students and their individual achievements. With every student having access to a laptop, Year 13 responded incredibly well to staff teaching all lessons live, online. They knew the stakes were high. On return to school in March their commitment continued with the sixth form staying open every evening until 7.00pm to accommodate many students who welcomed the opportunity to study in a conducive environment.
With our largest ever cohort of 139 students in Year 13 we have a bumper crop of students accessing top universities and courses.
A formidable trio of our Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, were delighted with their results and offers.

Berlyn Jensen-Wallace (Head Girl) A, A, B in French, RE and Economics and Head Boy Daneil Johnson-Buckley A*, A*, A* in English, Politics and History. They will both be going to Warwick to study Law. The trio is completed with another triple A* for Ariana Bura in English, Politics and History and she is off to Durham University to study for a degree in Liberal Arts.
Warwick has been a really successful destination for our students and this year is no different with five students attaining a place there. A previous Head Boy Milola Adelekan has also just graduated from Warwick with a 2:1 in Philosophy.
Exeter University is also a top destination of choice this year with six students going to study there. Usman Shahzad and Bilan Abdullahi (below) will both be studying Geography there. Usman achieved A, A, B in Geography, Chemistry and Biology and Bilan A*, A, B in English, Geography and French.
The destinations of our BTEC students have been equally remarkable. Four students with D*, D*, D* Chrisanne James will study Social Anthropology and Global Development at SOAS, Nehal Bhaidas will study Politics and International Relations at Bath, Roza Ali will study Medical Pharmacology at Swansea and Apurva Manoj Finance, Accounting and Management at Nottingham University.
Two young men are quietly pleased with their four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics (top achievers in the year group) but will take slightly different paths with Ubaid due to study Physics at University College London and Mahdi Mathematics at Bristol.
It was a bumper day for the Ali family as Fatima returned to Ark to find out her brother’s results. Hassan has achieved the grades to study Astro Physics at Queen Mary College London. Meanwhile, Fatima who left Ark Academy three years ago, let us know she gained a first-class honours in Law from SOAS. A very proud mum accompanied them!
The Principal, Delia Smith said “I am immensely proud of this really fantastic year group who have really embraced the work ethic needed to succeed and at the same time been incredibly supportive of each other. They are a credit to Ark Academy and their families.”
