Cambridge Bound!

Wednesday 17 January 2018

Ark Academy Sixth Form continues on its path to success this year with two of our students securing offers to Cambridge University.  So far we currently have 264 UCAS offers with that number rising all the time.

Head Girl, Minali Alwis, received an offer to study Geography at Kings College while Isabella Addo received her offer to study Human Social and Political Science at Homerton. Both girls are thrilled with their achievement and excited at the prospect of studying at one of the world’s finest universities. Only one in five applicants typically secures a place after a rigorous application process, including interviews.

Both girls have attended Ark Academy since Year 7 and when reflecting on her success, Minali said that she has always loved geography and has really enjoyed the way it has been taught here.

With 45% of UCAS applicants holding offers from Russell Group universities there seems to be a bias towards the London Universities with 14 holding offers from Kings College London and 14 for Queen Mary. Students are now working hard to make sure they get the grades, to quote Isabella “the hard work starts now.”

Principal Mrs Smith is thrilled, as always, with the achievement of our Year 13 pupils and “All offers are a testament to the hard work of our staff and our students on personal statements, references and of course, A Levels. There is a lot of work ahead but I am excited for August and the doors that will open up for our Sixth Form students.”
