Year 1’s Adventure to London Zoo

Wednesday 27 April 2022

Pupils in Year 1 attended a trip to London Zoo. In Year 1 we have been learning about the topic ‘Amazing animals in science’. Pupils have learnt that there are many different types of animals and that like humans - animals are also living things. Pupils also learnt that animals can be grouped into five different animal's categories- mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and reptiles. During the trip we visited the different parts of the Zoo. Some favourites included the penguin beach and pupils in year 1 described the penguins as "cute, with smooth black and white skin". Zora described the tigers as 'beautiful with stripy skin'. Children also enjoyed visiting the aquarium within the Zoo, as this was where they found 'Dory', the blue fish. Another popular favourite was the mini beast's section of the zoo as this was where the 'creepy crawlies live'. It was an enjoyable experience for all that attended and provided children with real life learning opportunities.
