Ark students get offers from UK’s best universities including Cambridge.

Students and teachers are delighted this week to hear news that two of our students have secured offers to Cambridge University and the total of UCAS offers is +150 and rising.

Cambridge offerees, Jai Sorabji-Stewart (studying Maths), and Aliyah Lashani-Ewing (studying Philosophy), beat off the fiercest competition to secure places at Cambridge University. Only one in five applicants typically secure a place after a rigorous application process, including interviews.

Reflecting on his success, Jai said that the way he is taught Maths had prepared him for his interview: “they asked me a question and I had known the answer to it since Year 10”. Jai had three mock Oxbridge practice interviews and his tutor was “really good with his statement”, helping him with over five drafts.

Aliyah, who joined Ark Academy in the Sixth Form with only a handful of A grades at GCSE, admitted that she had not even thought of university before coming to Ark Sixth Form, and only applied to Cambridge because the school gave her “constant reassurance and encouragement that I could go to Cambridge”.

“Teachers really care. They know you have potential.”

Many students at Ark Academy Sixth Form have offers from the best universities, including those in the Russell Group. 11 students have got offers from Warwick University alone. Students are now working hard to make sure they get the grades.

“I am pleased that we have had such success with UCAS offers in our first year of Sixth Form. All offers are a testament to the hard work of our staff and our students on personal statements, references and, of course, A Levels.”
