Welcome to the Ark Academy Primary remote learning page.

Seesaw

For remote learning, we are using the ‘Seesaw’ platform. You should have received a ‘home learning code’ for your child to log into Seesaw. If you have not received this then please contact the school immediately.

Please click on the link here to access Seesaw: https://app.seesaw.me/#/login

Then, click on ‘I’m a student’ to sign in with your home learning code. You can also download the Seesaw app and login via this.

Please see our parent guide to using Seesaw here:

Curriculum, daily lessons and timetabling

Our remote learning curriculum will mirror the curriculum that would have been taught in school. This means that the children will be introduced to new learning and content. A daily timetable, detailing the learning to be covered and timings, will be sent via Seesaw each week. Children in year 1 and 2 will have at least 3 hours of lessons a day (both the lessons themselves and time to complete them). Children in years 3 to 6 will have at least 4 hours of lessons a day (both the lessons themselves and time to complete them). The following lessons will be taught daily:

  • Reading (and/or phonics)
  • Writing
  • Maths
  • ‘Topic’ (either history, geography, science, art, DT or exploration tasks)

In addition there will be weekly music lessons, spelling tasks, handwriting tasks, extra maths related tasks and assemblies. Teachers will provide a full set of online resources for these lessons including pre-recorded voice-over lessons, associated task sheets and links to online videos or other resources. All children should have received a remote learning exercise book and all learning should be completed in this. Please contact the school if you need an exercise book. Children’s learning will continue to be assessed via daily, responsive teacher comments on their work and through weekly quizzes.

To complement our remote learning curriculum, there are also some high quality online resources which can be found here:

Daily check-ins

Teachers will meet with their classes every day for a daily check-in. This will be hosted on ‘Teams’. For year 4, 5 and 6, the link to access this can be found here:

https://www.office.com/?omkt=en-in

At the scheduled time, please click on the link above, click ‘sign in’, enter your child’s email address and password and then select your child’s class to join the meeting.

For children in reception and years 1, 2 and 3, you will be sent a link to access the daily check-in via Seesaw.

Please contact your class teacher, Mr Parkhouse or Mr Watkins if you need any more information or support with remote learning.
