Remote learning for children unable to attend school

At Ark Academy we know that some children have legitimate reasons why they cannot be in school from March 8th. The document below outlines how they will be supported.

Remote learning in the event of a bubble or school closure

Our remote learning curriculum will mirror the curriculum that would have been taught in school. This means that the children will be introduced to new learning and content. A daily timetable, detailing the learning to be covered and timings, will be sent via Seesaw each week. Children in year 1 and 2 will have at least 3 hours of lessons a day (both the lessons themselves and time to complete them). Children in years 3 to 6 will have at least 4 hours of lessons a day (both the lessons themselves and time to complete them). The following lessons will be taught daily:

  • Reading (and/or phonics)
  • Writing
  • Maths
  • ‘Topic’ (either history, geography, science, art, DT or exploration tasks)

Teachers will provide a full set of online resources for these lessons including pre-recorded voice-over lessons, associated task sheets and links to online videos or other resources. All children should have received a remote learning exercise book and all learning should be completed in this. Please contact the school if you need an exercise book. Children’s learning will continue to be assessed via daily, responsive teacher comments on their work and through weekly quizzes.

To complement our remote learning curriculum, there are also some high quality online resources which can be found here:

Teachers will also meet with their classes every day for a daily check-in. This will be hosted on ‘Teams’. The link to sign in to the web version of Teams can be found here:

Instructions can be foundFilehere.
