Why do we learn sociology?
The study of sociology aims to explore the contemporary and relevant issues which make up our society. Sociology looks into how we create and manipulate the world around us, and how society also moulds us. Sociologists wish to understand why we behave in the way we do and explore the ways different social groups relate and why they might have different life chances. It is a theory based subject, grounded in research and evidence which as a sociology student will engage and challenge your beliefs and opinions of modern society.
Our approach
Grounded in statistics, policy, theories and observation, our approach in Sociology is to make learning and content as immersive and relatable as possible. Sociology can be seen in every facet of society, and it is this unique experience that no other subject can offer that we capitalise on and embed in our lessons on a daily basis. We focus on developing critical and evaluative thinking, expressive writing and the application of contemporary and historic examples.
