On the 8th of July, a group of exceptionally talented students were given the incredible opportunity to visit the prestigious LAMDA, one of the UK’s most renowned drama schools—as a reward for their outstanding performances in in House events throughout this academic year. The trip was organised by the Heads of House recognising excellence in acting, stagecraft, and theatrical innovation, and it was an unforgettable experience for all involved.
A Day of Masterclasses and Performances
The students were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the drama school, where they learned about the rigorous training of Backstage Careers— exploring how science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) intersect with the creative world of theatre and performance. They participated in workshops led by industry professionals, covering everything from sound, lightning, and special effects on stage.
Meeting the Experts
The group also had the chance to speak with alumni and tutors who have worked in West End productions, TV, and film. They shared invaluable advice on how to get in the profession and the realities of working in the performing arts.
Final Curtain Call
The trip ended with a special Q&A where professors and professionals answer student’s questions about stagecraft and how to get into that career. The feedback from professionals were so encouraging and inspiring, leaving our students eager for more drama!
For our pupils, this experience wasn’t just a reward—it was a glimpse into their potential futures. As one student put it, "This trip has made me consider working in the arts. Who knows? Maybe one day I’ll be studying here for real!"
Could the next backstage genius be hidden among our students? With talent like theirs, it’s definitely possible!
Have a passion for drama? Get involved in all the House Events where those skills are well needed!
