Ark Academy did a splendid job hosting the Brent and Harrow Citizens Accountability Assembly just two weeks ahead of the local elections.
Council candidates standing for election and over 150 community leaders from our fellow Citizen member organisations such as religious institutions, schools, and colleges were in attendance.
Our students took part in various aspects of the evening: Gursimran Singh and Bobby Patel helping with the lighting and sound. Aamna Shah, Zahraa Alshaiban, Salma Metwaly, and Tinsae Seifu produced inspirational artwork on canvas. Lokman Cherfi did a beautiful spoken word/speech on unifying the community. Tarik El Farnjani negotiated with the Councillors and secured commitments on how they will work with us to make Brent a Living Wage Borough. Aarish Dhanani, Davina Sunhwa, and Nimrah Ayyaz did a great job representing Ark during the roll call.
The amazing Ms Sharp led the phenomenal Ark music band, who did a fantastic job of building the ambience, entertaining our guests with a performance of a song they wrote themselves on the struggles of workers on low pay. A huge well done to the following students: Mayar A, Valerie ZS, Maryam A, Davina S, Tayvon M, Myriam A, Riya P, Sophia T, Ysabella A, Rebekah T, and Adithi S. We are super proud!
